About Wisterian Woman

who is wisterian woman?

You know me as Wisterian Woman, the creator, writer, editor, and graphic designer behind the scenes. I am a 26 year-old woman currently residing in Fort Collins, Colorado with my sweet mini goldendoodle and loving partner. I was born and grew up in rural Illinois, and lived there for the first 16 years of my life with my mom and sister who raised me. Life was hard after losing my dad to alcoholism, and we struggled a lot to make ends meet and keep a peaceful home.

When I first came to the mountains of Colorado, I knew I had found my soul’s home. Here, my family healed from the pain in our past, and I became the woman I was meant to be. Though I’ve been a painter for 12 years and a creative soul since the beginning of time, I decided to pursue human resources as a career; after finding the freedom, purpose, and independence that work offered me, I wanted to help others find that as well.

I fell in love with the field of study, earning my bachelor’s and then M.Ed in Organizational Learning, Performance, and Change. Today I work from home, helping to recruit incredible talent and build a fantastic culture within my organization. In my free time, I pursue my creative passions, including art and my mission here at Wisterian Woman.

With a focus on wellness, nourishing food, career, and travel, I write about how to create a beautiful life of your own design. Wisterian Woman is written through the lens of womanhood (the only lens I have!),

but it is for anyone who wants to:

create the beautiful life of their dreams

heal their pain and trauma from the past and stop letting it define them

give up unhealthy habits, addictions, or vices

forge meaningful connections with others

learn to create delicious meals to nourish their heart and body

find a career that helps them pursue their soul’s passions

embrace their divine femininity and let go of toxic ideals and expectations of how they “should” be

connect with their spiritual side, with or without organized religion

dream a little bit bigger

let their heart take them to new travel destinations

take holistic approach to their health and wellbeing

find movement and challenging exercise that they enjoy

I know, I know, that’s a lot. The blogs about how to blog tell me I need to narrow down a niche. And, I guess I did. My niche is “wellness,” but you can’t equate wellness to yoga and green smoothies. In fact, doing so is a disservice to wellness. To be well means to be whole and fulfilled in all aspects of your life, not just when you’re on your meditation retreat or vacation.

That’s why I want to bring wellness to the everyday woman who dreams. The struggling single mother. The young girl stuck in a small town. The mom with grown kids finally learning to focus on herself. The career woman trying to make a name for herself in a man’s world. The heartbroken one. The lonely one. The one in therapy. The gender non-conforming one. The misunderstood one. The real one who dreams of something greater for herself and her life. Who knows she can be more than the cards she was dealt.

why “wisterian”?

Because it’s fun to make up words! But really, like the botanist who named the beautiful wisteria flower, I love the sound of it. It is also draped in folklore and symbolism, two of my favorite things.

The wisteria flower blooms in the middle of spring, near my birthday, and is a symbol of longevity, good luck, success, passion, grace, intellect, inspiration, and devotion.

A climbing vine that clings to trees and buildings to survive, it represents the fact that we all need support to grow into our true selves, and shows us the power of strength and perseverance with its beautiful blooms. It can survive harsh conditions and even drought, proving that beauty and divine femininity can still be found among turmoil.

“Wisterian” is also reminiscent of the word “wistful,” which means to be full of yearning or desire tinged with melancholy, a sentiment that characterizes much of my own life and longing for something greater than the weight of my past.

Not just a beautiful word and flower, I have come to define this brand as beautiful, capable, bada** feminine people who dream of something great and then go out and make it happen. That’s you. That’s me.
