Manifest and Faith

all things work together for good

Manifest is a popular TV show on Netflix that premiered in 2018, created by Jeff Rake. The show follows the story of a group of passengers on a flight who suddenly find themselves five years in the future even though to them, only a few hours have passed. This mysterious disappearance and the unexpected return form the crux of the show’s plot, along with its supernatural elements.

The plot of Manifest thickens as the characters attempt to reintegrate into their lives after the inexplicable time gap and try to unravel the mystery behind it. There are various themes explored in the show such as personal relationships, self-discovery, and redemption.

Manifest is lauded for its well-plotted storyline and character development. It features a talented cast of actors including Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J.R. Ramirez, and Luna Blaise. The show has become popular with fans of sci-fi, mystery, and drama television shows.

One of the main themes of the show is faith, and that “all things work together for good.” Manifest is, in many ways, a spiritual successor to Lost. Ben and Michaela from the very beginning mirror the “man of science, man of faith” dichotomy that Lost presents from the very beginning, but Ben becomes a man of faith very soon thereafter, although his faith is challenged many times throughout the series.

Like Ben, I’ve never been much of a religious person myself, but through exploring my spiritual side I’ve come to recognize the importance of faith. The main moral of Manifest is that, of course, all things work together for good. Even the most horrible things can lead our hearts and souls down the right path. But, as the story shows through various people, if we forget to remain humble and follow the signs for our own selfish gain, we will only find abandonment and ruin.

it’s all connected

From the very beginning, Manifest establishes the phrase “it’s all connected” as a recurring theme throughout the series. As human beings, we are all connected in some way or another, whether it be through our shared experiences, our collective consciousness, or the simple fact that we share the same planet.

Think about it – we are all born into families and communities, and from there, we go on to build our own relationships and networks. We rely on one another for support, comfort, and love. We learn from one another, care for one another, and grow together. We share common experiences and emotions that bind us together, such as love, heartbreak, joy, and loss.

And it’s not just our personal relationships that connect us. We are also connected through our actions and impact on the world around us. The choices we make and the things we do have a ripple effect, and they can impact people and communities far beyond our own.

For instance, think about how our actions impact the environment and the planet we share. Every choice we make, from the products we buy to the energy we consume, has an impact on the world around us. Our choices can either contribute to the greater good or cause harm.

We are all connected on a deeper, spiritual level as well. Some people believe that there is a universal energy that connects us all, that we are all part of the same divine consciousness. Whether you believe in this or not, it’s hard to deny that we are all part of something greater than ourselves.

Although the passengers of 828 are essentially just a random sample of people who boarded a flight as we all do every day, they come to show us through their journey that humanity is all connected in so many ways, from our personal relationships and shared experiences to the impact our actions have on the world around us. This interconnectedness is what makes us human, what gives us purpose, and what allows us to thrive as a species.

mythology and lore

Manifest is a show that is deeply enveloped in mythology and spiritual tropes. The numerous and intricate mythologies interwoven throughout the show play a significant role in its storyline.

For instance, the central numerical sequence “828” is a critical aspect of the show’s mythology. It is a reference to an angelic number, and its appearance in the series represents a divine intervention. The show’s creators believe that this number sequence embodies positive energy and optimism, which is precisely how it is portrayed in the show.

Moreover, the show’s mythology includes several prophetic visions of people who appear to the characters and impart messages that guide them in their journey. These visions are often cryptic and can be challenging to decipher, but they add an aura of mysticism and intrigue to the show’s plot.

One of the most fascinating spiritual concepts explored in Manifest is the idea of “callings.” These are unexplained experiences that the show’s characters begin to experience following their return from the flight. These callings appear to be linked to the larger spiritual mythology of the show and seem to guide the characters in their mission to solve the mysteries behind their experience.

Another central aspect of the mythology in Manifest is the concept of balance. The show presents a balance between good and evil, and this dichotomy is evident in several aspects of the show, especially in the characters’ struggle to make ethical choices in complex and challenging situations.

Overall, Manifest builds a rich and detailed mythology that serves as a driving force in the plot, in addition to provoking deep thoughts and discussions about spirituality and the supernatural. If you love shows that attempt to delve deeply into these themes, Manifest is undoubtedly one to add to your to-watch list.

If you haven’t seen Manifest yet and you’re looking for a sci-fi thriller deeply entrenched in mythology and spiritual tropes, you should suspend your disbelief for four incredible seasons and get to know the stories of the 828 passengers.
